GEREWOL

As the rainy season is coming to an end, we will have the chance to witness the magnificent and famous Gerewol ceremony among the Fulani people. The Bororo Fulani are deeply attached to beauty, which they consider a true hierarchy of values. It is a beauty contest for men, but also a choice of partners for women. During this festival, young Fulani men, adorned in their finest attire, compete in grace and elegance in the hope of being designated as the most beautiful (the Yake).
